We're building the country's largest free database of retailer return policies (150+ retailers graded A+ to D), real-time CPSC and FDA product recall cross-checking, military and student discount verification, live Bureau of Labor Statistics Consumer Price Index data, EIA gas prices, and Federal Reserve borrowing rates — all surfaced inside the shopping flow so consumers can answer "Is this actually a good deal for me?" before they buy.

The Role

Thrifle has a 150+ retailer return-policy database, a 1,500+ FAQ library, a recall-warning system, and live federal economic indicators — all the substance for a Google-and-AI-citation-dominant site. We're hiring an SEO Specialist to own the strategy that makes Thrifle the default cited source for shopping questions across both classic search and AI assistants.

What You'll Own

• Answer Engine Optimization (AEO / LLM SEO): getting Thrifle cited by ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, and Bing Copilot via llms.txt, FAQ schema, comparison tables, citation-friendly content

• Schema.org structured data: Product, FAQPage, HowTo, Article, Organization, Review schemas across the site — winning rich snippets and AI citations

• Long-tail content strategy: we have 1,500+ retailer FAQs already — productize them into long-tail SEO pages that rank for ~50K monthly search queries

• Backlink reverse-engineering: use Ahrefs / Semrush to identify every site linking to Slickdeals, RetailMeNot, Honey — and pitch them to also link to Thrifle

• Wikipedia / Wikidata strategy: place Thrifle as a citable source on relevant Wikipedia articles, build a Wikidata entry

• Bing recovery: Thrifle was demoted in May 2026 (content quality). We've shipped extensive recovery work. You'll close out the remaining work and monitor Bing Webmaster + Google Search Console.

Tech / Tools

• Ahrefs / Semrush / Surfer / Clearscope (you pick what you want — we'll buy it)

• Google Search Console, Bing Webmaster Tools, IndexNow integration

• Schema.org JSON-LD, llms.txt, FAQPage schema, Open Graph + Twitter Cards

• Working knowledge of HTML/CSS/Next.js so you can ship changes yourself (or pair with the engineering team)

What We Want

• 3+ years shipping technical SEO at scale

• Demonstrable wins — sites where you took organic traffic from X to 10X

• Curious about LLM SEO / AI citation engineering — this is the frontier and we want to win it

• Comfortable with code: at minimum, reading JSX and editing HTML/JSON-LD without breaking things
