How Thrifle Works

Thrifle helps you find genuine deals at the stores you already trust — then gets out of the way. We never sell you anything and we never take your payment. Here's exactly how it works, and why it's safe.

Thrifle never asks for your credit card.

You never pay Thrifle for anything. When you're ready to buy, we send you to the retailer's own website — like Amazon, Costco, or Best Buy — where you check out directly with them. The only place you ever enter payment details is on the store's secure checkout, not on Thrifle.

What happens when you buy a deal

You browse deals

Search or scroll Thrifle for deals across hundreds of US retailers. Every deal shows the price, the discount, and the data that matters — return window, price history, and the verified merchant.

We send you to the retailer

When you tap “Shop Now,” Thrifle hands you off to the retailer's own website. You're now on Amazon, Costco, Best Buy, or wherever the deal lives — not on Thrifle.

You check out with them, not us

You pay the retailer directly, at their listed price, using their secure checkout. Thrifle never sees or touches your payment details.

You're covered by their policies

Shipping, returns, warranties, and support all run through the retailer you bought from — backed by the same protections you'd have buying there directly.

More than a coupon site

Most deal sites show you a price and a link. Thrifle adds the context you actually need to decide whether a deal is worth it:

Editor-verified return policies

We maintain a hand-checked database of return policies for 150+ US retailers — exact return windows, free-return status, restocking fees, and holiday extensions — shown right on the deal, before you buy. Explore the Return Policy Database.

Real price history

A "50% off" tag means nothing if the item was cheaper last month. Thrifle tracks real price history so you can see whether a sale is genuinely a low price — not just a marked-up "deal."

Verified merchants

Thrifle identifies the true retailer behind every deal link, so you always know exactly which trusted store you're buying from.

How you benefit

  • Save money on real, verified deals across hundreds of US stores.
  • Buy with confidence — know the return window and price history before you commit.
  • Stay safe — you only ever pay the retailer, on their secure checkout.
  • Never miss a price drop with free deal alerts on the items you want.
  • It's all free — no subscription, no paywall, no catch.

How Thrifle makes money

When you click through to a retailer and make a purchase, that retailer may pay Thrifle a small commission — at no extra cost to you. You pay the same price whether you arrive through Thrifle or go to the store directly. That commission is what keeps Thrifle free for everyone. We spell this out fully in our Affiliate Disclosure.

Frequently asked questions

Is Thrifle legit?

Yes. Thrifle is a US deal-discovery platform that helps you find genuine discounts at major retailers. We never sell products ourselves and we never handle your payment. When you find a deal you like, we send you to the retailer's own website — Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy, Target, and hundreds more — where you check out directly with them. Thrifle is run by a real US-registered company, Thrifle Technologies LLC.

Does Thrifle ever ask for my credit card?

No. Thrifle never asks for your credit card, debit card, or bank details — not to browse, not to create a free account, not to view a deal. The only place you ever enter payment information is on the retailer's own checkout page after you leave Thrifle. If any site claiming to be Thrifle asks you to pay it directly, it is not us.

Is Thrifle free to use?

Completely free. Browsing deals, reading return-policy and price-history data, creating an account, setting deal alerts, and entering giveaways all cost nothing. There is no subscription and no paywall.

How does Thrifle make money?

When you click through to a retailer and buy something, that retailer may pay Thrifle a small commission — at no extra cost to you. You pay exactly the retailer's listed price whether you arrive through Thrifle or not. This is standard affiliate marketing, and it is how we keep the platform free. See our Affiliate Disclosure for the full details.

Where does my purchase actually happen?

Always on the retailer's own website. Thrifle is a discovery layer that points you to deals; the transaction, your payment, shipping, and customer service all happen with the merchant directly. That means your purchase is protected by the retailer's normal policies and your card's normal protections.

What makes Thrifle different from other deal sites?

Most deal sites just list a price and a link. Thrifle adds purchase intelligence to every deal: an editor-verified return policy for 150+ US retailers, real price history so you know if a 'sale' is actually a low price, and verification of the true merchant behind every link. The goal is to help you decide before you buy, not just to push a coupon.
