Privacy Policy for Dead Weight

Effective date: June 24, 2026

Dead Weight is a free arcade survival game made by Thrifle. This policy explains, in plain language, what happens to your information when you play. The short version: the game keeps your scores and settings on your own device, and Thrifle itself runs no servers and never collects your personal data directly — but the game is free and ad-supported, and the ads (served by Google AdMob) use a limited amount of device data, described below.

What the game stores on your device

Dead Weight has no accounts, no sign-up, and no login. Your game progress, high score, and settings live only on your device. If you delete the app, that local data is gone with it. Thrifle holds no servers, no databases, and no records about you.

Advertising

Dead Weight is free and supported by ads. To show them it uses Google AdMob, Google’s mobile advertising service. To serve and measure those ads, AdMob (Google) may collect and process:

  • your device’s advertising identifier (the IDFA on iOS or Advertising ID on Android);
  • general device and network information, such as IP address, device model, and operating-system version; and
  • ad interactions, such as which ads were shown or tapped.

This data is collected and used by Google, not stored by Thrifle. On iOS, the app asks — through Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt — whether you want to allow tracking. If you decline (or limit ad tracking in your settings), you are shown non-personalized ads instead.

You can control or reset your advertising identifier at any time:

  • iOS:Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking (and Apple Advertising).
  • Android:Settings › Google › Ads (reset or delete your advertising ID, or opt out of ad personalization).

Google’s use of this information is governed by Google’s own privacy policy and its “How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services” page:

The leaderboard (optional)

The other feature that can send anything off your device is the leaderboard, and it is entirely optional. If you choose to submit a high score, the game passes that score to Apple Game Center on iOS or Google Play Games on Android.

What gets submitted is your numeric score, associated with the Game Center or Play Games identity you’ve already set up with Apple or Google. We never see your real name or account credentials, and Dead Weight does not store this itself. This only happens if you have Game Center / Play Games enabled and you choose to post a score; otherwise no score ever leaves your device. Once submitted, that score is governed by Apple’s or Google’s privacy policies, not ours.

The “share your run” feature uses your device’s built-in share sheet. Dead Weight does not control or receive a copy of anything you share — that is handled entirely by your OS and the app you send it to.

Third parties

The third-party services Dead Weight relies on are:

  • Google AdMob— serves the ads (see “Advertising” above).
  • Apple Game Center (iOS) and Google Play Games (Android) — the optional leaderboard.

We do not use any other analytics providers, data brokers, or marketing services.

Children’s privacy

Dead Weight is rated 4+ on the App Store and Everyoneon Google Play, contains no objectionable content, and is intended for a general audience — it is not directed at children under 13.

Because the game shows ads, advertising can involve the data described above. Where a user declines tracking, or limits ad tracking in their device settings, non-personalizedads are shown. Parents can manage advertising and access through their device’s controls — Apple’s Screen Time / Family Sharing or Google’s Family Link — including disabling Game Center or Play Games. If you believe a child has used the app and you have a concern, contact us at the address below.

Data retention

  • Local high scores and settings stay on your device until you clear them or uninstall the app.
  • Data collected through ads is retained by Google under Google’s retention policies, not ours.
  • Any high score you submitted to a leaderboard is retained by Apple or Google under their policies.

Thrifle itself keeps no servers, databases, or records about you.

Your rights

You may have rights under laws such as the GDPR (EU/UK) or CCPA/CPRA (California) to access, correct, or delete your personal data, or to object to its processing.

  • For data collected through ads: manage or reset your advertising identifier in your device settings (above), opt out of ad personalization, and use Google’s privacy controls — Google is the controller for that data.
  • For a leaderboard score: manage or remove it through your Apple Game Center or Google Play Games account settings, or contact Apple or Google directly.
  • For local data: delete the app from your device to remove it entirely.

Thrifle does not hold your personal data directly, so there is nothing for us to retrieve, correct, or delete on our side — but if you have a question about your rights, contact us below and we’ll help.

Changes to this policy

This policy covers the current, free, ad-supported version of Dead Weight. If we change how data is handled in a future update, we will revise this policy and the effective date above before those changes ship. Your continued use of the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
