The savvy move is reverse-engineering the mystery — Hotwire shows the star rating, neighborhood, amenities, and review score, so cross-reference those against listings on regular booking sites and you can often guess the property before committing. Hot Rate cars work the same way and frequently undercut everyone on airport rentals. Standard (non-mystery) rates are bookable too, sometimes with free cancellation, and app deals occasionally beat the site. The catch: Hot Rate bookings are final — nonrefundable, nonchangeable, no loyalty points or elite perks, and you might land the least desirable brand in that star class.
